Reach's Ship Graveyard by King-of-Darkness50 Reach's Ship Graveyard by King-of-Darkness50
Another "Out of the map theater mode trick". When I examine the destroyed or decommissioned ships, Bungie.....didn't quite place them to realistic. If you could see it for yourself, some of the frigates and small jets are kinda lined up perfectly into a pattern.

Hope you enjoy this sad but beautiful screenshot :)

Halo belongs to Microsoft and created by Bunige.

You're right on the sizes though.

You can tell the sizes are a problem when in the last cutscene TPOA flies over the graveyard briefly as it is absolutely huge comparatively speaking to the other Halcyon/Marathon classes on the ground. This is to be expected given that they couldn't actually produce a skybox that spans the realistic amount of miles needed to reproduce the valley below with all the ships.

It's funny because during that last level before Emile's fate you can see a pitched battle between the Covies and UNSC below, presumably where you later "crawl" down to for "Lone Wolf". Didn't notice this until my 3rd play-through on Legendary.

Does kinda kill the illusion though...

...Wow, that makes lots of sense. Their were ships disarded down there in "The Pillar of Autumn" but in "Lone Wofl" when your actually down their, the ships are gone.

I always thought this was a place where they put decommissioned ships. But you are right, Bungie probably didn't go for realism with this (why they look perfectly placed), seeing as its just background filler.

I've also noticed this with Sentinels. They fly at exactly the same height, in line and fire at you like this. It's utterly fake and kills the realism. Maybe Bungie have trouble with Sentinels flying at different heights/levels to engage their targets? You can see this at its absolute worst in Halo CE. Absolutely unforgivable, Bungie!!!

I finally understand that it wasn't a graveyard now. Too me it looked like it with all those ships looked buried and destroyed.

I notice that now. Bungie should have made them hard to shoot at since sentinels can fly everywhere. That would've put a challenge in a game.

yeah, its not so much a graveyard, its more of a decomissioned shipyard. it makes sense if you've read the background story on the Pillar of Autumn in the novel The Fall of Reach (the original one, lmao)

Oh okay. I wanted to read it but I couldn't find it anywhere. The only book I have is "The Flood".

Yeah, I know. I got the game for PC :D. The book described a lot more things than the game though.

Well that area is a bone yard where they keep the remains of the disassembled ships or those are the ones destined to be gutted and their metals reused like the Commonwealth earlier in the mission. on another note, good pic ^^
